On September 7, the Hub’s Trade Promotion and AGOA Director delivered a presentation on AGOA and Market Opportunities in the United States at the Crown Women Rising East Africa Summit organized by African Women Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP) Kenya Chapter. The summit was organized to empower women to pursue their goals through trainings. The meeting was attended by 144 participants including 30 AWEP members.
See the Hub’s presentation here.
The meeting focused on the constraints and opportunities for female entrepreneurs in Kenya seeking to do international business. Mirembe Nantongo, Deputy Chief of Mission for the U.S. Embassy in Kenya, delivered remarks. Zohra Baraka, Director of Mohazo Eximpo Limited, a Hub-supported home décor exporter, also shared her experience exporting to the U.S. under AGOA.
USAID Hub participation in events like Crown Women Rising East Africa Summit contributes to our overall objective to educate and build the capacity of the public and private sectors on AGOA, leading to a greater uptake of AGOA export opportunities.
