The Hub Director of Investment Kanini Mutooni moderated the Kenya Country Session at the ongoing World Economic Forum on Africa in Kigali, Rwanda. The session featured senior government figures in ministries and agencies related to trade and investment, including Dr. Chris Kiptoo, Principal Secretary, State Department of Trade and Dr. Moses Ikiara, Managing Director of the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest).
The panel sought to pinpoint improvements needed for stronger private sector investment and to detail ongoing steps designed to draw greater trade and investment to Kenya. During the panel, PS Kiptoo reiterated the government's commitment to implementing a cold chain investment strategy that will attract private sector investment in the sub-sector. The panel also revealed that Kenya is at an advanced stage of setting up a commodity exchange to promote trade and increase price transparency for agricultural products.
Kenya recorded the fastest rise in foreign direct investments in Africa & Middle East in 2015, according to the fDi Report 2016. The Hub is committed to spurring investment in Kenya and the East African region.
