The Hub is in Uganda this week to convene an action-oriented discussion around implementation of the East African Community (EAC) Common Market Protocol. The meeting will provide the private sector an opportunity to engage with the Ugandan government regarding key aspects of the Protocol that still need to be implemented. The Hub is facilitating the meeting in partnership with the Private Sector Federation of Uganda.
The Protocol endeavors to unify the East African states into a single market, opening up a new world of opportunities for private sector. To make this happen, the Protocol provides for "Four Freedoms", namely the free movement of goods, labor, services and capital, which will significantly boost trade and investments and make the region more productive and prosperous.
The Hub is working closely with the private sector in each of the Member States of the EAC to ensure appropriate and timely implementation of all aspects of the protocol.
