The Export-Import (Ex-Im) Bank of the United States is an independent federal agency mandated with ensuring large and small U.S. companies have access to the financing they need to turn export opportunities into sales. Recently, Ex-Im honored Illinois-based W.S. Darley & Co. as "Sub-Saharan Africa Exporter of the Year".
Through Ex-Im’s support W.S. Darley managed to secure $15.7 million in buyer financing to the government of Lagos, Nigeria to purchase 32 state-of-the-art, fully equipped firefighting vehicles, maintenance support equipment and training services.
Working with lenders and brokers, Ex-Im fills in trade finance gaps to promote exports from the U.S. The Ex-Im bank also facilitates buyer finance and insuring against risks.
The chairman of the Ex-Im bank appeared in a CNBC Africa interview in June last year to discuss opportunities for U.S. investment in Africa following the chairman's tour of several African states.
