U.S-based businesses explore investment opportunities in Kenya and Ethiopia

Published on August 19, 2016

On August 18, the Hub and Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) held a trade mission reception in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The purpose of the reception was to introduce a visiting CCA delegation of U.S. executives and investors to local businesses, service provides, and government representatives, and facilitate a structured business-to-business (B2B) networking session.

Attendees had an opportunity to meet representatives from unique, homegrown Ethiopian companies and to learn about investment options in Ethiopia. Attendees also learned about the support services available to help make investment happen, including services offered by the Ethiopia Investment Commission and business development firms. Attendees also learned about local government requirements and support for global business in Ethiopia.

The B2B reception is part of a larger CCA trade mission, in which the Hub is an active participant. The trade mission spent August 14 - 16 in Kenya, meeting with government officials and potential local business partners, and learning about Kenya’s highly improved enabling environment for business.

During an evening reception on August 16, U.S. Ambassador Robert Godec said, “Kenya and the region as a whole is increasingly attractive for U.S. inward investment and we expect that the CCA trade mission will result in even more investment transactions.”
