The Hub's Investment Director, Kanini Mutooni, will be participating in the upcoming 26th World Economic Forum (WEF) on Africa, to be held in Kigali, Rwanda May 11 - 12. Ms. Mutooni will facilitate the Kenya Country Session of the Grow Africa Investment Forum, in which she will moderate a discussion on what improvements are needed to create a strong enabling environment for private-sector investment. Ms. Mutooni will also join regional leaders and thinkers for a workshop entitled African Integration: Reshaping Trade and Investment Value Chains, which will focus on strategies to increase cross-border growth and investment facilitation in the region.

The forum this year is held amidst a challenging economic environment for most African states with commodity prices having slumped recently. The WEF on Africa is expected to deliberate actions that governments can take to improve their investment climate and undertake significant macroeconomic policy reforms in order to continue attracting foreign direct investment.

Under the theme Connecting Africa’s Resources through Digital Transformation, the 26th World Economic Forum on Africa will convene regional and global leaders from business, government and civil society to discuss digital economy catalysts that can drive radical structural transformation, strengthen public-private collaboration on key global and regional challenges, and agree on strategic actions that can deliver shared prosperity across the continent.
