The Hub explores key partnerships in Uganda

The East Africa Trade and Investment Hub met with various organizations while in Uganda for the first East Africa Manufacturing Summit. Key among them was a meeting with Mr. John Musajjakawa, the Senior Investment Executive, Uganda Investment Authority (UIA). The Hub has a Memorandum of Understanding with UIA to boost investment in the country.

Under the MoU, the Hub will:

  1. Support UIA in investment promotion and investment policy reform activities.
  2. Participate in trade delegations and investment promotion activities organized by UIA.
  3. Build the capacity of UIA and its partners to take advantage of available trading opportunities between the U.S. and Uganda, including through the African Growth and Opportunity Act.
  4. Collaborate on sharing relevant Ugandan investment opportunities with potential investors.

The Hub also met Mr. Robert Anyang, Deputy Director and Mr. Joseph Kiirya, Agricultural Finance Specialist at the Feed the Future project in Uganda. Feed the Future is one of the flagship presidential initiatives under which the Hub operates, the other being Trade Africa. In addition the Hub met with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) on investment promotion.
