On September 17-18, the USAID Hub will participate in the Global Logistics Convention (GLC) 2018 in Kampala, Uganda at the Sheraton Hotel. The convention will provide a unique opportunity for the Hub and partner Federation of East African Freight Forwarders Associations (FEAFFA) to launch an e-learning platform. This platform will facilitate capacity building trainings for customs clearing agents, freight forwarders and shippers on the application of the revised East African Community (EAC) Rules of Origin (ROO). The proper application of the EAC ROO will boost the region's export competitiveness by ensuring that more locally produced goods qualify for opportunities provided by preferential trade regime within EAC.
The GLC is an annual freight logistics event organized by FEAFFA. It offers a unique opportunity for participants to share best practices in trade and policy, engage with a wide range of stakeholders and raise awareness on the changing roles, responsibilities and emerging trends in the industry to drive productivity and competitiveness. The convention allows participants to forge powerful networks across the region, dialogue, showcase and leverage individual and corporate capabilities to potential clients.
