Call for Applications: Team of Consultants to develop a database for TBT technical regulations and conformity assessment

The Hub in collaboration with EAC Secretariat is seeking to recruit highly qualified team of two consultants on ICT and Policy fields to develop database for TBT technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures and its implementing agencies/bodies. The lead consultant -ICT must have at least a degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, with expertise in developing large databases and web-based applications using database management systems, at least 5 years’ experience and knowledgeable in various programming languages. The second consultant on policy must have at least a degree, knowledgeable on WTO TBT Agreement and at least 5 years’ experience in TBT matters in EAC region. Download the Scope of Work here. Request for Proposals: Provision of Working Capital Finance Across East Africa

The Hub seeks to identify a grantee who is engaged in the provision of working capital finance across the EAC region.  The grantee is expected to provide short term working capital to at least 20 enterprises whose core business supports food security and allied services. The Hub in collaboration with East Africa Community (EAC) Secretariat is seeking to recruit a highly qualified team of two consultants on policy and ICT fields to develop a mechanism and ICT tool for monitoring compliance with WTO TBT Agreement and applicable EAC legal instruments by EAC Partner States. The lead consultant on policy must have a Masters degree with 8 years’ experience in policy issues and knowledgeable in World Trade Organization (WTO) technical barriers to trade (TBT) Agreement and TBT regime in EAC. The ICT consultant must have at least a degree in computer science/information technology with expertise in developing database and web-based applications and 5 years’ experience in designing, managing, administering, documenting and supporting multi-tiered database applications. Catholic Relief Services and Food and Agriculture Organization : Announcement for Key Trainers Course Leading to Certification Seed System Security Assessment

This course will train in both rapid and more comprehensive forms of SSSAs.  It will focus on a) analysis of all seed channels (own stocks, social networks, local networks, formal seed sellers) and b) targeted response options to deal with problems at hand.  With increased visibility, the demand for SSSAs is rising.  Seed System Security Assessments have recently been integrated into USAID guidelines and standards for best practice, and organizations like Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and the UN-Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) are routinely commissioning actual field assessments.   Read more here
