G-Soko is designed to increase grain trade efficiency and market access. It should also reduce low-level fraud, increase traceability, and improve market information access.
The G-Soko Trading Platform automates grain trade by electronically linking grain bulking/aggregation centers and certified warehouses with trading houses and participating banks (for settlement and clearing) on a virtual platform. The platform is regulated and administered by Eastern Africa Grain Council and operates under law of contract with a defined set of protocols, procedures, rules and regulations.
G-Soko was developed by EAGC in partnership with Virtual City, a Kenya-based ICT Company, and with support from the DFID-funded FoodTrade Eastern and Southern Africa Project.
