Kenyan entrepreneur takes center stage during United State of Women Summit

Published on June 16, 2016

FunKidz.jpgCongratulation to Kenyan entrepreneur Ciiru Waweru! Earlier this week, U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama made special mention of Ms. Waweru -- and invited her to the stage for a hug -- during the United State of Women Summit dinner in Washington, D.C. First Lady Obama said that due to a business loan that Goldman Sachs' 10,000 Women provided, Ms. Waweru was able to double her production capacity, hire new employees and start selling her products around the world.

Ms. Waweru started the company FunKidz, which specialized in children’s furniture. The Hub hosted her and a number of Kenyan entreprenuers for an African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Preparedness Workshop last November.

You can read more about Ms. Waweru's experience at the United State of Women Summit in the Nation.
