The UNCTAD World Investment Forum, being held July 17-21 in Nairobi, Kenya, is a high-level, biennial, multi-stakeholder gathering designed to facilitate dialogue and action on the world’s key emerging investment-related challenges. Its mission is to provide a platform where a debate on "Investment in Sustainable Development" can take place and ultimately to promote investment flows that contribute to sustainable and inclusive development. With its ties to UN member States, the World Investment Forum is able to bring together a broad coalition of investment stakeholders at the highest level who can influence the global investment landscape.
As a build up to the July Forum, the Hub, together with the East Africa Community (EAC) secretariat and the East Africa Business Council (EABC), will host the Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) from the East Africa region for a one-day meeting on May 19, 2016.
The meeting will set the tone for the IPAs to have a collaborative approach with regards to regional investment promotion as well as harmonize what the IPAs will deliver in terms of investment projects. The meeting will also aim to guide the IPAs on investment policies that are conducive to attract and retain investment in key Hub sectors, such as financial services.
