Published on August 04, 2016

The Hub is partnering with the EAC Secretariat to convene a series of national sanitary and phytosanitary measures (SPS) consultative workshops that support implementation of the EAC’s draft SPS work plan. These workshops will facilitate the identification and categorization of priority flagship interventions at the regional level. Both public and private sector participants will attend the workshops.

The planned workshops will be held as follows:

  • Kigali, Rwanda: August 4 - 5
  • Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: August 8 - 9
  • Kampala, Uganda: August 11 - 12
  • Nairobi, Kenya: August 15 - 16, and
  • Nairobi, Kenya (for Burundi): August 18 - 19

The workshops will continue the work that the Hub is undertaking in regard to implementation of the EAC Common Market Protocol and the U.S.-EAC Cooperation Agreement on SPS, Trade Facilitation and Technical Barriers to Trade. The Hub's intervention recently contributed to the ratification of the EAC SPS Protocol by the Kenyan government.
