Ethiopia's prime minister takes over COMESA Chairmanship from President Kabila

 Ethiopia's Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn took over today the chairmanship of COMESA from President Joseph Kabila of Congo to serve until the next summit.

The 18th Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Summit of Heads of State and Government opened here under the theme “Inclusive and sustainable industrialization”.

Speaking during the occasion, Prime Minister Hailemariam said inclusive and sustainable industrialization is the pillar of sustainable economic growth, food security, poverty reduction and job creation in the region.

Inclusivity will also call for cooperation between governments and private sectors, actors to harness the investment necessary to strengthen the productive and trade capacity of our member states, he indicated.

He further said “the inclusive and sustainable industrialization that we are embarking upon at national and COMESA level has to be supported by investment, infrastructure, energy, health, education and transportation, among others.” Read more. Source | Ethiopian News Agency
