Today, the Hub, in collaboration with Center for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI), World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) Africa, TradeMark East Africa, and Craft Africa launched Source East Africa, a home decor trade fair scheduled for September 23-25 in Arusha, Tanzania. Source East Africa will connect East African crafts producers with regional and international buyers, and promote sustainable market linkages for greater export.
The two-day craft fair is the first of its kind in East Africa and will be free and open to the public. The event will feature an array of modern makers, hands-on workshops, food and drink, fashion, music and more.
East Africa is one of the leading crafts-producing regions on the African continent. Unfortunately, crafts producers in the region find it difficult to access both the regional and international market. Source East Africa wants to fill this void and establish the first professional business-to-business trade fair for home decor, fashion accessories and lifestyle products in East Africa.
"With Source East Africa, we are helping regional and international buyers discover some of the many talented home décor and fashion accessory companies in East Africa. Our hope is that exhibitors grow from the international trade fair experience and maintain sustainable relationships with the buyers they meet," said Hub Chief of Party Juan Estrada-Valle.
