On August 24-27, the United States and Gabon will co-host the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Forum in Libreville, Gabon. Recently reauthorized by the U.S. Congress for an additional ten years, AGOA has been the cornerstone of the U.S. government’s trade policy with sub-Saharan Africa since 2000.
The theme of this year’s Forum is “AGOA at 15: Charting a Course for a Sustainable U.S.-Africa Trade and Investment Partnership.” The 2015 Forum will celebrate the recent re-authorization and the important role of women, civil society, and the private sector in promoting trade, expanding inclusive and sustainable economic growth, and generating prosperity.
