U.S. Department of Commerce to leverage big data innovation to better serve U.S. businesses

The U.S. Department of Commerce has announced a new initiative called the Commerce Data Service. The new service will leverage data science, making use of diverse data repositories on trade and commerce in the U.S. to create new and innovative services to better serve U.S. businesses. Built in the spirit of America's entrepreneurial technology ventures, the Commerce Data Service is a start-up within government, that consists of diverse team of top-notch designers, developers, software engineers and data scientists. Through partnerships with the twelve bureaus that make up the Commerce Department, the Data Service will deliver products and services to help government agencies better deliver information to their customers.
