The Hub recently convened heads of investment promotion agencies (IPAs) from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Ethiopia for a workshop on how to take a regional approach to investment promotion. The IPAs also discussed the upcoming UNCTAD World Investment Forum (WIF), to be held July 17-22 in Nairobi, and how they can best benefit from it.
The Hub is working closely with KenInvest, the International Finance Corporation and the World Bank to host special WIF side events that promote the eastern Africa region as an investment destination. These will include:
- A high-level panel session on investing in eastern Africa
- Sector breakfast sessions on textiles and financial services in East Africa
- An investor matchmaking event (networking event) – regional businesses and global investors
- An East Africa pavilion to showcase investment opportunities - 10 investment opportunities put forward bu the IPAs will be on display for investors
