The East Africa Trade and Investment Hub (the Hub) joined the Partnership Expo of the Mandela Washington Fellowship East Africa Regional Conference held in Nairobi, Kenya, last week. The Expo afforded companies and organizations from the private, nonprofit and public sectors the opportunity to network with the newest Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Fellows. Similar to the Hub, YALI Fellows are keen to use their training and education to boost trade and investment in East Africa.
President Obama launched YALI in 2010 to support the next generation of African leaders spur growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa. The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders brings 500 dynamic young African leaders, ages 25-35, from across the continent to the United States for 6 weeks of leadership training and mentoring at twenty U.S. universities and colleges in three areas: business and entrepreneurship, civic engagement and public administration. Find out more about YALI, here.
