Soko is a women-owned, ethical jewelry brand produced here in Kenya. We pair trend-driven design with local techniques to produce beautiful, handmade jewelry from brass sheet, brass wire, and upcycled cast brass, bone, and horn. All of our pieces are produced by a network of independent artisan entrepreneurs in Kibera, Rongai, Dandora, Thika, and other areas around greater Nairobi. Soko’s mission is to innovate how fashion products are sourced from emerging markets. In order to compete with low cost, factory produced fashion, we do things differently. We’ve built what we call a Virtual Factory, a network of independent artisan entrepreneurs who collectively produce beautiful, fashionable products for a global consumer base. And in the process, we’re pioneering Ethical Fast Fashion, aligning handmade talent from emerging markets with the international fashion consumer.
