Origin Africa’s 2015 Sourcing and Fashion Week in Ethiopia is just around the corner, October 21 - 23.
This year’s event promises to be better than ever! U.S. and European apparel buyers are looking to East Africa as the next sourcing destination. More than 600 delegates, including 400 exhibitors, have already registered to be part of the event. They will have an opportunity to showcase their wares, liaise with global buyers, attend seminars on trade and investment opportunities, and participate in business to business matchmaking sessions that will ultimately increase jobs and drive economic growth in eastern Africa.
The event will also provide opportunities to learn more about the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and the trade benefits it provides. The Hub's directors of trade promotion and investment will be on hand to answer any questions.
The Hub works with U.S. and East African businesses and government representatives to develop, guide and promote African trade in the textile/apparel, cut flowers, specialty foods, coffee, home décor and fashion accessories sectors. Our project also connects investors with investees and builds awareness of opportunities for African and U.S. firms to increase trade and expand business partnerships, particularly through AGOA.
Since the Hub launched in November 2014, we have helped facilitate nearly 200 linkages between U.S. and other buyers with East African firms, yielding more than $40 million in exports. We expect that number to increase as a result of Origin Africa 2015.
