New on our Knowledge Center: Trade Policy and Food Security - Improving Access to Food in Developing Countries in the Wake of High World Prices

Published on August 18, 2016

Capture.PNGTrade Policy and Food Security: Improving Access to Food in Developing Countries in the Wake of High World Prices is a publication of the World Bank. It explores the impact of food prices on economic welfare, and how the effect of price changes on food security and economic welfare in developing countries can be mitigated through appropriate national policies at the border.

The publication also draws on examples of best (and worst) practices from around the world to assess the role of trade policy, trade facilitation, and logistics in enhancing both national and global food security.

It is a useful resource in providing guidance on discussing the drivers of high world food prices, the factors that determine the transmission of world food prices to domestic markets, and the key barriers to trade in food for developing countries.
