The report also sets out the individual and business profiles of women entrepreneurs, and outlines findings that provide insights on the gender profile of the businesses, the support available to these businesses, and attitudes towards insuring businesses.

Its recommendations are useful in addressing identified business issues, and offers a conclusion that promotes gender lens investing.

This can be achieved by benefitting smallholders, addressing land reform issues, providing adequate financial services, price and market information as well as by boosting global value chains.

The publication also provides policy recommendations for African governments and the private sector on how ICTs usage could be further leveraged to enhance productivity and promote a green agriculture in Africa.

The publication also summarizes key opportunities and challenges created by technology-enabled innovation, and proposes  recommendations aimed at safeguarding financial stability and fostering innovation, for the public and private sectors to consider.

It is a useful resource for a range of senior stakeholders from across the financial sector including traditional financial institutions, financial policy-makers, academics, and civil society, as well as non-traditional actors such as technology companies and start-ups.

The Hub supports trade and investment in East Africa, with the goal of facilitating $100 million of new investments in targeted sectors throughout the region. To achieve this goal, the Hub offers no-cost transaction support services for eligible investors, including private equity funds, commercial banks, impact funds, and development finance institutions. The Hub also supports matchmaking events that link investors to potential investees. At a recent Angel Investor event in Nairobi, the Hub queried investors on how investees should construct a compelling investment pitch. Watch the below videos to hear their tips.

Finally, it reviews the global cross-border e-commerce, and offers a deeper analysis of selected economies.

It serves as a starting point for a public private dialogue on e-commerce, especially on SMEs in developing countries.

The report also suggests avenues of exploration for organizations wishing to identify, lend to, or otherwise support businesses that are climbing the ladder from micro to small enterprises.

Alternative Investments 2020: The Future of Capital for Entrepreneurs and SMEs

It also clarifies that, not all the trends highlighted in the report will find broad adoption, but collectively, they hold lessons that could point towards the shape of the whole industry to come.

The report describes the principal new capital sources that have arisen over the past years, examines their drivers, and explains their effects and importance for society.

East African Investment Opportunities (as showcased at the World Investment Forum, July 2016)
