Technology : Ocimum Species Stored Grains Protector

The technology involves using different plant species to come up with a product Molepse Bio-resource oil/powder that protect stored grains against post-harvest pests through repellency and Mortality. The product is formulated from essential oils of different plant species that are available locally. Pest Mortality is noticeable within five minutes of fumigation while repellency is immediate. It has enabled reduce pest infestation and take control of health issues associated with synthetic pesticides. The cost of the technology is very low as the plants species grows naturally as shrubs and the highest population of them is in Africa. There are no synthetic chemical additives to the formulation.

Impact : Produced in 2015, the technology has been tested amongst over one hundred farmers and the results have been impressive. It has enabled them reduce pest infestation and take control of health issues associated with synthetic pesticides. The harvesting, drying and extraction of the oils takes approximately one week. Effectiveness of the applied oils starts immediately. Mortality is noticeable within five minutes while repellency is immediate.
