regional_strategy_for_the_staple_foods_value_chain_in_east_africa.JPGA Regional Strategy for the Staple Foods Value Chain in Eastern Africa.  USAID COMPETE was tasked with developing a five-year regional strategy for the staple foods value chain in Eastern Africa in collaboration with its regional trade association partner, the Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC). Development of this strategy is timely, as there has been a big push under the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals, the New Partnership for Africa’s Development’s Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Program, and the U.S. government’s Feed the Future initiative to raise agricultural productivity, integrate smallholders into commercial markets, develop dynamic regional and sub-regional agricultural markets, and achieve food security.
